8: Do you listen to music when you draw? Favorites?
I listen to tons of music! Just today I listened to Reflektor by Arcade Fire from front to back three times while drawing. It’s hard to pick favorites. Alt-J put out my favorite album of 2013, though. I also like to listen to classical, soundtrack or ambient music, or also listen to people talk: coursera courses or audiobooks are perfect things for my head to pay attention to while I work on repetitive or mindless parts of my artwork, like painting or detailing. I can’t listen to people speak when laying down initial sketches, or writing word balloons, though.
12: Any weird artist behavior you admit doing?
I don’t even know what this means! I think everyone does this, but I very often make the same face as my characters do when they are showing strong emotion. What else? I don’t finish anything. I think that’s normal, though.
i am taking requests for the next couple hours. i will draw my characters making out, i will draw characters that are not mine making out. heck, i will draw them playing hopscotch. i also will draw other things. do you want to see something? if i want to see it also, I will draw it!!!!
Crane is not his given name. Crane is the name he was assigned when he joined the Royal army when he was 14, and it is the only name he goes by now. Nobody really knows what name he was born with.
He is a workaholic. If he’s not working, then he might be sleeping.. In his office. Even his hobby, cartography, is usually work related. To support his frantic devotion to his majesty’s royal army, he drinks a tea made from a root, for energy, or sometimes just chews the root itself. If taken the wrong way, it can have you awake for days, and can be slightly addictive.
He does not, generally, “like” the emperor, and his son even less so. But Crane is nothing if not proper, so it is never voiced.
One corner of his brain is devoted to Fallon’s comings and goings. He has her routine memorized and when it is disrupted he becomes very agitated, and everything else in his carefully tuned machine gets a little ruffled because of it. Knowing Fallon, this happens more than he’d like.
Crane’s not a very popular general. He made a lot of improvements to the entire army on his way up the ladder and continued to when he got to the top, but he is very lacking in charisma. In fact, he doesn’t have any, at all. And he has no way with words, either. In fact, he is mean. He is a very unpleasant person. So despite the pay raise, and the new laws for equality and abolishing corruption and improving life in the barracks, he’s still badmouthed pretty consistently.
Asma’s family is HUGE. She is on the middle older side of her immediate family, and she has 8 siblings, not including herself.
Asma as her eyes on the crown. She already controls the city of commerce, the Yellow City, which is also the cultural hub, but it’d be right nice to control the whole thing. Currently, she is engaged in courtship with the crown prince, who she doesn’t particularly care for. But, you do what you must.
She tries to hide it, because as a figurehead of an important city, you’re supposed to be mature and aloof… but she loves bards. Those songs!!!! About adventure?? And romance?! Pump up the jams. She always has to suppress a little excitement sound when she hears a favorite is in town.
Asma has only seen snow once, and it was magical.
Boats make her uncomfortable. She just really doesn’t like the idea of being on a ship of any variety. They just kind of freak her out
