PART 2/2 part one: here
The pencil stuff with Ronan and the Harpy is older.. everything else on this page is from the first half of September. Some experimenting with Empire State ideas… I actually did a lot of Empire State doodles when I picked up the no-pencil rule (for everything that wasn’t going to be ultra special finished work) and I thought a lot of them were super great but turns out they weren’t!!! or maybe i’m just jaded by time or something to that effect. But, one of the thumbnails from the top actually made it into being an almost finished piece…. I just gotta give it some inkwash this weekend or something.
Vera was also the worst maid on planet earth. She was never allowed to interact with customers
i’ll scan the current sketchbook tomorrow

I finally got a new scanner, and I’ve scanned most of the good stuff out of my first sketchbook from the summer! This is probably less than half of it. It starts from August and first half of September.
There are only a few pencil sketches (I think there is one more, in an upcoming update?) because I dove right back into that thing where I only draw with a pen as a general rule. It works wonders, I tell you. If you ever want a tip other than ‘practice all the time’, here is one: sketch primarily with pen. Pencil has its place so I won’t tell you to never use it, but dude. your marks get so much more confident when you eliminate your ability to noodle around with a drawing.
Anyway, this page in particular features one of my favorite Defector characters which I’ve kept mostly a secret up until now (unless you’re an old-timey friend who remembers him): the goofy kid on the bottom whose name is Shen Shu. He has a lot of thoughts in general.
Other characters you may recognize: Vera, and Amandine, Myron and Marie (if you have been around for a long time and have a memory of gold).
More to come!!!

My coworker made me draw him a picture of a dragon. Done with just pen! First attempt at a dragon since like age 13. Roughly? I’m pretty dang proud of it anyway
