Sketchbook update! Fun stuff. I’m really happy with my sketches lately, I think a lot of it is because I’m sketching at all. For a few years I felt a pressure to turn out finished pieces, so I’d feel a little stifled at the sketching stage because I was like dang, This has to be good. But it doesn’t have to be! What a liberating thought

The pencil stuff with Ronan and the Harpy is older.. everything else on this page is from the first half of September. Some experimenting with Empire State ideas… I actually did a lot of Empire State doodles when I picked up the no-pencil rule (for everything that wasn’t going to be ultra special finished work) and I thought a lot of them were super great but turns out they weren’t!!! or maybe i’m just jaded by time or something to that effect. But, one of the thumbnails from the top actually made it into being an almost finished piece…. I just gotta give it some inkwash this weekend or something.

Vera was also the worst maid on planet earth. She was never allowed to interact with customers

got inspired to do some empire state work in the future, so you can look out for that. I couldn’t hold it in for another day though so i made some doodles. My favorite Vera is borderline evil Vera

Poor isaac, he thought it would maybe be more fairytaleish when he “saved” Vera from her hotel maid job one day and took her to his posh New Money apartment in Brooklyn Heights. He wouldn’t have it any other way, though.
